NBA Notebook 1.0
The NBA season tipped off almost exactly a month ago. With most teams having played close to 15 games we have enough data to start being able to form opinions on each team, coach, and player. With the season in full swing we will be posting each week. The goal for each of these weekly posts is to provide an overview of the league as a whole, as well as some standout performances and takeaways from each week. I will be experimenting the first few posts with the format and welcome any formatting ideas! If you have any suggestions of what you want to read about for upcoming posts please comment below, along with your initial thoughts on the 2024-25 season!

THINGS THAT CAUGHT MY EYE
- Will Hardy is a genius when it comes to quick hitters. I love when elite players show their elite skills, and I equally love when elite coaches show their elite skills. When watching the Utah Jazz the thing that stands out to me the most was their SLOB and BLOB play calling. Will Hardy consistently draws up plays, looking to score, that often good great looks
- The Grizzlies might look to regret not picking up the fourth year team option on Jake LaRavia. Playing hard still counts for a lot and not many NBA players play harder than LaRavia. I have long been critical of LaRavia but he is playing like a very good rotational player for Memphis right now. He is a really good rebounder, is shooting the ball really well, and has greatly improved on the defensive side of the ball.
- The Western and Eastern Conference disparity is insane. The current 9 seed in the west, the LA Clippers, have the same record as the current 4 seed in the east. Some really good teams will miss the playoffs due to being in the grueling Western Conference, where every single game truly matters.
-The Brooklyn Nets are a very mediocre team with a ton of desirable players. Brooklyn has definitely already exceeded my expectations to start the season, but they are nothing more than an average team at very best. They will still likely be a bad team. The funny thing is they have a roster full of talented players that most contenders want. Players like Cam Thomas, Cam Johnson, Dennis Schröder, and Dorian Finney-Smith all have been major names in early season trade conversations that every single contending team will show interest in. I find it funny that a team that has so many highly regarded individual players does not have the winning correlation as a team that you would expect.
