2024-25 NFL Hot Takes

A week from today we will get to watch NFL football! With that fact I feel like it is a great time to share some of my "hot takes" for the upcoming NFL season. Let me know your thoughts and any hot takes that you may have!

1. The Seattle Seahawks are the #1 seed in the NFC

I am very high on the Seahawks and think they can be a legit contender if everything clicks. I am a believer in the offense as I think Geno Smith is a very underrated QB, their WR trio is top 5 in the league, Kenneth Walker III will have a breakout year, and I think they have talented pieces on the defensive side. They compete in maybe the best division in the NFL but I would not be surprised to see Seattle come out on top.

2. Kyler Murray is the NFL MVP

Kyler is finally healthy. With the arrival of MHJ he has a true #1 WR for the first time since DeAndre Hopkins. Couple this with the fact that the Cardinals defense is projected to be abysmal, expect the Cardinals to rely on Kyler to put up gaudy numbers to compete in games.

3. Josh Allen is top 3 in passing yards, despite having no 1,000 yard receiver

Josh Allen is the second best QB in the league, but there are some* question marks surrounding the Bills offense this year with the departure of Stefon Diggs and Gabe Davis. Buffalo replaced them with rookie Keon Coleman and veteran Curtis Samuel, and will also rely on mostly unproven Khalil Shakir, RB James Cook and second year TE Dalton Kincaid. The talent of Allen will prevail and he will again be amongst the league leaders in passing statistics, but will have to spread the ball around. This will lead to the Bills still having success on offense, but not one true dominant receiving force.

4. Jahmyr Gibbs leads the league in all-purpose yards

Jahmyr Gibbs started the season a little banged up a year ago, but saw his role increase exponentially throughout the season. He threatens to provide an explosive play every time he touches the ball. Expect him to get more rushing targets and to be a huge threat in the receiving game.

5. Mike Evans misses out on 1,000 yards for the first time in his career

You never want to doubt a first ballot HOFer, but I predict this year is when Evans' record run of 1k yards ends. He is 31 years old this year and we do not often see aging WR put up prolific numbers. Evans has seen his targets decline by 20+ each of the last two years, and this year will catch up to him and he will barely miss out on 1,000 yards.
