Tuesday Takeaways: NFL Week 3 Reactions

Week 3 of the NFL season has come and gone! Here are a few thoughts and reactions regarding this past weekend! Comment your thoughts and takeaways!

1. Mahomes looks human.

It feels like we do this every September, where the Chiefs do not look dominant and then we look at the standings and they're undefeated and leading the AFC. That being said, this is the most "normal" I can remember Patrick Mahomes ever looking. A lot of it is game scripts and play calling, but we just have simply seen less of his superhero type plays early in this season. Even so, there is no QB in the league you would rather have come January/February.

2. KOC and Tomlin are my two standout coaches.

There have been many coaches so far that have been brilliant, but there are two that standout to me. Kevin O'Connell is one of the absolute best play callers in the league and seems to have an unbelievable culture that he has set in Minnesota. Mike Tomlin is an all time great, that I think is still underrated. Year after year he finds a way to not lose. I'd feel pretty confident in saying that prior to the season kicking off nobody would have the Vikings and Steelers being amongst the last five undefeated teams in the NFL, but here we are.

3. It is a shame Braelon Allen was drafted to the New York Jets.

Allen was my #1 RB prospect in this past draft and I was very confused to see him fall to the fourth round. He was the youngest NFL player to ever score a touchdown and has been very impactful in his touches. He has seen his touches go up every week due to the fact he is producing with the opportunities he gets. He would be the lead back, or at least 1A, on about 20 of the teams in the league. He just so happens to be behind a top 5 back in the league. Even so, Allen is a player I am very excited to continue to watch as the season progresses.

4. Rookie QBs starting to figure it out?

This was by far the best week for each starting rookie QB. Caleb Williams threw for 350+ yards and made some absolutely eye catching throws. Bo Nix looked the most comfortable he has all season and added some dynamic playmaking as a runner. Both of them looked like extremely impressive rookies, but they simply were overshadowed by Jayden Daniels MNF performance. Sometimes you watch a game where you just know you are watching a star in the making, and that is what it felt like watching Daniels against Cincinnati. I do not think it is an exaggeration to say that Daniels has been a top 15 QB so far this season and quite frankly that may be doing him a disservice. Growing pains will still come, but all three QBs gave their fanbases something to be excited about.

5. The Dolphins regret not spending their money this offseason.

The Dolphins left a lot of people questioning their approach to free agency this offseason. They did not invest money in the OL, did not get a quality backup QB, and these decisions are looming large. While it is only three weeks in, I think that Miami's season is over. Without Tua I do not think they can utilize their offensive weapons enough, and their defense is not good enough to win games. They have very scary weapons but collectively do not think they have enough to truly strike fear into opponents.
